Benefit from diverse counselling modalities and approaches

Why is the integrative approach beneficial?

Each person and each situation is different; rather than trying to “squeeze” them into the frames of one or two therapy modalities, I focus on helping them by using tailor-made approaches that benefit them and doesn’t limit what we can achieve through counselling.

Integrative therapy approach

As a result, when in counselling with me, I do everything to integrate your needs, past experiences, values, and goals. By incorporating techniques from multiple therapeutic approaches, we can create and implement a more flexible counselling plan that addresses the complexity of your mental and emotional well-being.  Below are some of the other therapeutic approaches I use.

I believe that drawing from a variety of therapeutic approaches allows me to provide my clients with the most effective and personalized care.

Mindfulness

When it comes to counselling, mindfulness can help you develop a deeper understanding of your experiences and current situation. This leads to reduced stress levels and enhanced emotional regulation. By adopting mindfulness techniques in my practice, I help my clients achieve a sense of calmness and clarity of their here-and-now, thus enabling them to be more present and respond to life's challenges with greater resilience.

Mindfulness can be useful when you’re dealing with:

  • Stress and emotion regulation issues

  • Improving relationships with others

  • Anxiety

  • Big life decisions and transitions

Culturally sensitive therapy

Your cultural background has a big influence on your mental and emotional well-being. It shapes your identity, beliefs, and emotions. I always work with my clients in a way that’s respectful and responsive to their cultural context. My goal is to create a fully open and supportive therapeutic setting where you can feel good about your cultural perspective and work in alignment with who you are.

Solution-focused therapy (SFT)

It's a 100% goal-oriented approach that's all about finding practical solutions to your current challenges. In solution-focused therapy, we don't spend a lot of time delving into your past; we focus on your current situation to start making positive changes in your life. In this type of counselling, you get actionable strategies and tools that you can use to act now and change the things that aren’t working for you in your life.

SFT can be used to:

  • Improve your relationships with others

  • Manage stress and anxiety

  • Improve your motivation and balance

  • Work on other short-term therapy goals

Strengths-based therapy (SBT)

Here, we focus on identifying and taking advantage of your existing strengths, resources and capabilities that can be used to improve the way you function and feel and to overcome your current challenges. It’s all about a sense of empowerment. When working on your existing strengths, we can achieve many goals, such as:

  • Improving coping skills

  • Boosting self-esteem and self-confidence

  • Fostering personal growth

  • Managing anxiety, stress, or trauma

Trauma-informed therapy

In this approach, we recognize the widespread impact that trauma can have on people. Together we’ll identify how your traumatic experiences may be impacting your well-being right now. By doing this, we can gradually build resilience and move toward healing that originates with addressing the root causes of your distress.  This type of therapy is all about creating a safe and compassionate therapeutic environment where you feel supported and understood. As a result of working together in this way, you’ll feel stronger and more in control of your life.
